| Today, as we went to a Christmas Eve service at an international church in Brno, I was truly blessed. Once I heard a teacher say that the closer your walk with God becomes, the greater your understanding of who you are and the dreadful sinner that you are becomes. That is something that has been imprinted on my mind...and I must say I am not nor do think I will ever truly understand the depths of my sin and the awesome forgiveness that God my Father offers. We had communion tonight, in a little different fashion than I've seen. It's a small church, so instead of passing the bread and juice, as families we came to the front, kneeled and took part in communion. The act of kneeling reminded me of the passage in Philippians 2, where Jesus humbled himself- kneeling is such a simple thing, nothing more than a physical act, but it has been to me a sign of submission, an act of love and desire to commit. It's humbling your pride, recognizing my sin and admitting my complete need for Jesus Christ. So, in light of the Christmas season, that's what Christmas is about...Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself, even to the death of the most wicked, and created a relationship between me and God. In His humility He gave His life, first to be born as a baby...a day celebrated by so many, but so few know the real reason for this day. His birth lead to life- a life that is the Christian's ultimate example- and then death, death leading to eternal life for millions throughout the past centuries! Jesus Christ, may we attribute honor and worship to Him this Christmas! Luke 2 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus to register all the empire for taxes. 2 This was the first registration, taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 Everyone went to his own town to be registered. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David. 5 He went to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, and who was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. |
